MISSION STATEMENT:

Our Religious Education program will provide programs that will foster worship and service for people of all ages.  Our hope is to assist our members in obtaining a lasting, loving relationship with Jesus Christ and fostering an active participation in the liturgical and apostolic life of the Church.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Our Children’s Religious Education program is a shared effort between families and catechists.  Through this process, we strive to assist our young people in developing a deeper relationship with Jesus. Each child will learn from faith experiences and catechetical instruction provided by faith filled volunteers who have answered the call to serve in this ministry.  Catechists are provided ongoing faith formation programs that apply towards a Diocesan Certification.

Parents are encouraged to take an active role in this program.  So that your child feels a part of this Church community, Fr. Bernardino, our pastor, encourages weekly Mass attendance.  By your word and example, your child begins to experience and feel the love of God in family and community. You are also encouraged to volunteer as substitute catechist, aide or hall monitor when needed in the Religious Education Program.

Registration for the Religious Education Program begins in April for currently enrolled families.  If you wish to learn more about our program, please call the Religious Education Office 732-785-0872.

Together as a team, we will assist your child in the various programs offered:

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Weekly Religious Education Classes for grades 1 thru 8, meet on Tuesday afternoons at Brick Memorial High School .  Times vary for grades 1 – 4, and 5 – 8.  Please check with the Religious Education Office for the appropriate time schedule.  For more information call the Religious Education Office 732-785-0872.

We use the resources of the Faith First Legacy Parish Program.  Click on their website below to learn more about this program.

HOME INSTRUCTION

The Religious Education Office offers parents of children in grades 1, 3, 4, 5 & 6 the opportunity to work with their child in a Home Instruction Program.  At home, parents are encouraged and expected to work with their children on the weekly chapter assignments.  All catechetical material needs to be completed and turned in to the Religious Education Office at the close of the Religious Education School year.

A required grade level test for students in grades 3 thru 6 is also given. Such testing is necessary and gives us insight as to how the program is working and how the children are learning about their faith.  Upon completion of the test, parents are given the graded information and if improvement is needed, are asked to review the material again over the summer months with their child.

Other requirements for the home instructed child include:

  • Attend grade level Penance Service at the Church when announced.

  • Study list of grade level prayers, and

  • Attend Sunday Mass
